Education Construction in New Orleans

Mayer Building Company completed a total retro-fit for the Tulane University Business School in 204. The new Innovation Lab, designed by Studio West, included not only fresh finishes and systems, but a series of cutting accoutrements like Smart Tint glazing, customizable lighting, integrated window treatments and glass white boards. The space itself has teaching/ assembly programming, break out and conference rooms along with a hide-away kitchenette.

In late 2022 Mayer Building Company overhauled the lobby, restrooms and courtyard of the College of Business at Loyola University. Working closely with Eskew Dumas Ripple, Mayer Building Company accomplished most of this work during Fall Break to lighten our footprint for the desired work.

The finished product, newly lit with clean contemporary touches, enhances the entrance experience for visitors, students and staff.

In time for the fall semester 2022, Mayer Building Co delivered the state-of-the-art Loyola University Nursing Simulation Laboratory. Designed by Kennedy Kraft, this very fast paced project was completed on time and on budget. This project was completed with ZERO change orders. r were pleased to turn over another Loyola milestone and another health care centered first class project.

The 6,600 square-foot simulation space recreates the experience of working in a real healthcare facility, with observation areas and debriefing rooms for students to reflect and learn from each other. Students engage in immersive scenarios, sometimes with students of other professions, where they must work together to provide excellent, evidence based care.

Mayer Building Company completed a dynamic build-out of 3400 square feet for Strayer University, New Orleans campus in late summer 2020. The new space boats state of the art classrooms, conference rooms, common areas. Strayer & Mayer pivoted during the coronavirus pandemic to build safely and add touchless features throughout. While the students were on summer break, Mayer Building Company refreshed the classrooms, halls and stair of the Net Charter School on Oretha Castle Haley. We quickly removed the worn floors, base and doors. We reconfigured one of the large classrooms. We fresh painted all surfaces and changed a handful of doors, frames and hardware.

During Winter Break 2024 Mayer Building Company built out a new clinical and testing area in the New Orleans East facility with the help of Concordia Architect

Mayer Building Company completed a large tranche of updates and improvements for Loyola this summer including a new Nursing Simulation Lab designed by Kennedy Kraft, renovations to the Miller Hall Lobby designed by Eskew Dumez Ripple, as well as a host of campus wide improvements guided by Loyola in-house staff. We updated the Mercy Hall cupola, re-fit some of the racquetball courts, took care of some Ida hangovers, relocated an Arts Department, cleaned up the Smoothie King in the Dana Center.

At the new NOCHI building, where the Freeman School at Tulane expanded in 2018, there was a ruckus overhead some of the key offices. On the 5th Floor there’s a full commercial catering kitchen, and below are a handful of Tulane office spaces and work areas. Well, just imagine the food prep, cooking and scullery noise behind those swinging doors at your favorite restaurant. Now imagine them in the floor above you when you’re at your desk. With the help of EDR, and the Tulane Campus Services executive, Mayer Building Company successfully delivered a project that you hardly notice. We installed a new sound deadening ceiling system and accouterments per the designers and worked in all the overhead systems to accommodate the same (sprinkler, lights, low voltage, you name it…).

Advano’s website starts with this: Electric vehicles haven’t been able to overcome the burden of cost versus range limitations. It then goes on to explain about “making a battery work with Silicon.” Certainly bold scientific progress needs a place to experiment, work and discover. With the Linfield Hunter Junius design team, Mayer Building Company converted disused laboratory and office space in the UNO CERN building at the lakefront into Advano’s new home base. Working closely with the building’s existing systems and
capabilities, we added all functionality required by Advano. We spiffed up the break room and an office or two. Thanks to Advano and Linfield Hunter & Junius.

In 2024 Mayer Building Company renovated six bathrooms at the Loyola Law School in Uptown, New Orleans. The work, mainly a finishes overhaul, was completed during summer break, turned over prior to students’ return. Several ofthe bathrooms required flooring and painting retouches only and a few were totally renovated with new lighting, partitions, tile and millwork.
