During the Spring of 2023, Mayer Building Company completed its second Credit Human Financial Health Center in New Orleans. This one was built out of an older dilapidated outbuilding on Oak Street. We not only transformed the interior from essential a large shed into a first class financial center, we also replaced the roof, the front façade, the concrete and landscaped approach and the insufficient utility services. The project was a challenge in that supply chain issues really delayed the electrical systems, but given our rapport with the owner (Thanks Sharon of CH!) and our compatibility with the architect (Thanks Maggie and Lucy of OJT!). In 2023 Mayer Building Company delivered our third Credit Human Financial Wellness Center. We’re getting the hang of it! This new location on Freret Street is in the recently rehabilitated 5110 Freret. It’s really in the heart of the burgeoning Freret commercial artery. We’re so honored be underway on our fourth Orleans Parish Credit Human elsewhere for this valued customer. In July, Mayer Building Company, LLC completed the work at 4901-03 Magazine Street. The major renovation on the corner of Magazine and Upperline consisted of converting an unused, decrepit Victorian 4plex into a stunning mixed-used rehabilitation. Upstairs there are two apartments for rent with balconies and galleries that face the parade route. Downstairs is a new office space customized to the real estate company moving in. We salvaged the floors, doors, baseboards, brickworks, and hardware (when possible). The major challenge of this project included prosecuting this salvage and re-use effort at the same time as abiding by Historic Tax Credit requirements (federal and state) the local Historic District Landmarks Commission requirements, the City of New Orleans Safety & Permits requirements, the Louisiana State Fire Marshal requirements and all the International Building Codes governing the same. Oh yeah, and we had to fit in air-conditioning, ADA and life safety requirements and new plumbing and electrical. Whew.

In a project that pushed through the challenges of 2020, Mayer Building Company transformed a 51,500-square-foot warehouse in Harahan, Louisiana into a state-of-the-art space for Mygrant Glass Company, a California-based glass distributor. Imagine a drab warehouse space – now picture it with a sparkling new 2,318-square-foot office, a revamped layout to optimize Mygrant's workflow, and modern features throughout. This renovation wasn't just about square footage; Mayer Building Company even included a new kitchenette and restrooms for employee convenience. The project truly went the extra mile with automated lighting in the warehouse and contemporary finishes that created a clean, bright atmosphere. What makes this story even more interesting is that the renovation was completed during the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayer Building Company rose to the challenge, implementing safety measures like temporary handwashing stations and limited workers on-site to ensure everyone's well-being. The result? A successful project with a very happy tenant – according to Mayer Building Company, there were minimal changes needed after the renovation, signifying a job well done!

Premium hair care center and blow dry bar drybar hired Mayer Building Company to complete New Orleans’ first and one and only drybar. Together, MBC and drybar worked through a few unforeseen conditions and completed a bespoke Blow Outs only haven at 6101 Magazine Street. The salon (is that right, drybar?) includes new MEP infrastructure, custom millwork, elevated finishes and wall coverings and a contemporary, fun feel. In October, MBC turned around a extra large but extra fast slab repair project for Linfield Hunter Junius and the Port of South Louisiana. The worn and abused slab had seen many uses over the years and needed vast swaths of concrete repair. Mayer Building Co delivered the work safely in 45 days time.
